Every 4th of July we head up to the mountain to camp for the holiday weekend. It's always so surreal packing for the cold rain and freezing nights when it's over 100* outside. Over the years I've learned to pack the essentials: 2 full sets of clothes per kid, per day. Rain boots instead of tennis shoes. Umbrella for Madi. Clothes in a tub instead of duffel bag. Lots and lots of wipes, hand sanitizer and lotion. And of course, a camera {or in my case, 2 - my nice one that's pretty big and my older, dying one that fits in my pocket}.

You can really tell a difference in which camera I used to take which pictures! Amazing. I'll try to give you a quick run-down of the weekend, but as anyone who either talks to me or reads this blog can tell - I like to talk and I like to tell stories! :O) {Yes, I admit it. Close your gaping jaw!}
Now that Clint works 4-10's, we were able to head up Friday morning which was 50/50 on the good idea roster. Any opportunity we have to camp is jumped on, but we overlooked the fact that Madi wouldn't have any friends until Saturday around lunch time. Gag. A bored 4 year old with no toys, TV, or crafts. Just dirt, rocks, and stumps. Luckily Saturday morning we woke up to twin 4 year old girls in the next campsite over who were kind enough to save us from Madi and Madi from us. :O)
Maelee was pretty fun to watch walk around. She was pretty wobbly on the bumpy ground, and took a few spills, but always got back up and tried again. Atta kid!
There was a lady from Germany who professionally trained mules, and had 2 beautiful ones {yep, they were pretty mules if you can believe that!!} at the corrals. They seriously looked like lean horses with big ears, that's how pretty they were. Madi got to ride one and was really stoked about it. Cute girl!
I could go on and on with story after story, but I will let the pictures speak for themselves for now. The girls are asleep and I am ready to take advantage of the situation by catching some Z's myself. Post more later!!

I still can't remember what it was that we were going to remember for the next camping trip - driving me crazy cuz it was SUCH a good idea!! So, I really want copies of our dirty girls. I didn't have a camara - hence those are all the pics I have from this mountain trip.
Those are so cute! I'm glad you got a few of Paul since I didn't go. PS thanks for the awesome gift! I'm so excited for it!
Cute pics! I love going to the mountain for the 4th! We're going to try and make it for Labor day. You have some ingenious ideas about what/how to pack. I might have to try a couple out for our next trip. :)
