Clint says I'm crazy. But last month I had a fun moment that made me realize something I didn't really know before.
You know all the hoopla about "Christmas in July"? I honestly thought it was all a commercial thing to get you to start spending money NOW on Holiday Cheer. Lo and behold, I have discovered that Christmas in July is, in point of fact, a natural desire. How else can you explain my 5 year-old singing Christmas songs, begging to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and "The Year Without A Santa Claus", and bugging over and over to make snowflakes to hang in our bay window? There's no way that she could read my inbox and know that Better Homes and Gardens has been sending me Christmas Craft ideas, nor could she really understand the random advertisements on the sidebars of websites... ESPECIALLY since she only is allowed to get on starfall.com and fancynancyworld.com.
SO... I decided to follow her lead and actually opened one of those pesky emails from BHG, and you know what? I'm suddenly SO excited for Christmas! I've started my list, and am hoping to have the bulk of my projects and crafts finished by the end of September. I SO want to be finished with Christmas prep by December 1st, so that we can ENJOY the Holidays without all the stress. I've done it in the past {once, in 2008} so I know it IS possible! I'm doing a 1/2 homemade Christmas, and I'm SUPER stoked for what I have up my sleeve for this year.
Am I totally nuts? Yeah, probably. Am I totally excited? You BET!!!!! Anyone care to join me??

I am totally game! Last year I made this (http://thecandlands.blogspot.com/2010/09/less-than-100-days.html) to help with that dreaded holiday stress and guilt for not doing everything I wanted to or planned. I am ready to bust it out and start planning, but this year I am stumped on Christmas gifts...got any ideas?
It's totally true! I ALWAYS start thinking about Christmas in July! I'll totally join you!
You're funny! I know that Aaryn rolled his eyes a couple of weeks ago when all of the sudden I got this burst of excitement for Christmas to be here and jump up and down singing a Christmas song. Yes I loooooooove Christmas! Everything about it the lights, the sparkly shinning wrapping paper, tinsel, the decorating, music, the smells, and doing secret santa...hehe. Because we knew money was going to get really tight this year we started our Christmas list back in March/April. Although we've now had some emergencies like AC not working when we came home from AZ so that took a big bite and a few other things;)
But I still can't wait for Christmas this year. It should be a lot more fun not being pregnant and it being Vespa's first Christmas!
Hurray for Christmas! It truly is the most wonderful time of the year, so the earlier you start the better, right?! I want to say I'll start too, but really I can't make that committment, if it happens it happens! :)
Sounds fun! I said last year that I was going to make a gift for EVERYONE in mine and Andy's immediate families... yeah, that hasn't started yet... we'll see if I can pull through!
